I was back at Creamfields over the August Bank Holiday weekend and again the weather was largely kind to us.
The line up was strong, but in my opinion the Sunday was better than the Saturday with Fatboy Slim, Axwell and Ingrosso, Calvin Harris and Duke Dumont.
To me, this type of event is about the music and DJs, not drinking – you can do that any night of the week so we drove home each night. I can’t explain how nice it is to be able to have a warm shower and crawl into your own bed at the end of a fun but exhausting day.
On the Saturday we saw quite a few acts that we have seen before, I think due to the amount of festivals we have been to we are struggling to see ‘big’ acts that we haven’t seen!
So far this year we’ve seen Steve Angello three times, Calvin Harris and Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Avicii and Martin Garrix all twice and well in the words of Icona Pop, ‘I love it’!
After watching an impressive set from Axwell Λ Ingrosso in the Departures tent we caught the end of Fatboy Slim’s set. We’ve seen him before, at Ultra last year and he was great on both occasions. He’s probably one of the oldest DJs still doing massive festivals like this, but the mix of music he brings to it, is amazing. He always throws in a few of his older tunes such as ‘Right Here, Right Now’ with his fantastic song from last year ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’.
Sadly Tiësto couldn’t make it to Creamfields this year although he was scheduled to headline the South Stage his flight from Vegas was cancelled at the last minute. Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike filled in for him, but I didn’t get a chance to see them as the friends I was with favoured Calvin Harris.
It looks like Creamfields might be my last ‘rave’ of the year unless of course we manage an epic night out in Vegas when I go there in September.
