As the title suggests that’s what we did for two days (or should I say nights) in Ibiza.
It’s been 14 years since we last went to Ibiza and what a difference it has made. We were staying in Playa d’en Bossa so you can forget the Club 18-30 mentality. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of alcohol around, but it’s so expensive there that it’s only the slightly older and perhaps more well off who go there.
We didn’t drink much as we don’t fall into both the categories, only the ‘slightly older’ one!
The first night we went to Ushuaia, a hotel which has an amazing outdoor club. To stay in the hotel during high season you’d probably need to take out a loan, so we stayed a short walk away, but that didn’t mean we missed out on anything. The night we had chosen to visit Ushuaia was Departures, the night that Axwell Λ Ingrosso host every week during the summer. After a slow start with a couple of DJs we weren’t very familiar with, the night got a whole lot better as the main guys took to the stage.
We found ourselves on an upstairs bar towards the back of the venue, but it meant we had an amazing view.
The night finished fairly early (at midnight) as it was outside so we continued the night in some of the bars outside.
The next day we started later and after a leisurely day walking around Playa d’en Bossa we took a taxi to Amnesia, one of the superclubs mid-way between Ibiza town and San Antonio.
There former group-mate of Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Steve Angello was to do a set. We were upstairs in the VIP bar and had a great view across both rooms and even bumped into a fellow raver who had been at Ushuaia the night before. He had come from Turkey for two weeks! Brave guy I say, we did just two nights, and it was amazing, but I think I’d need to take out a loan to do two weeks.
Angello started off his set the same way as at EDC UK which we went to a couple of weeks before. He clearly knows that starting with a bit of Robin S will get the crowd going and it did.
The summer song for me is ‘Payback’ which Angello did with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman, two DJs I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing, but as they will be at Creamfields next month I’m hoping I’ll get the chance.
After a 5am finish at Amnesia it was time to take the Disco Bus back to our hotel and then a couple of hours kip before checking out at 10am. Feeling surprisingly fresh we then relaxed by the pool until it was time to get our flight to France where the holiday went from raving to relaxing.
